Advanced game concept.
I want to bridge the gap between real life and design software with a game.
There is a disconnection between environment, real life and design, a disconnection that is being increased or maybe even created by the tools we use.
I want to create a indication on environmental impact and labour in a design.
[Project Statement]
If i create a solid gold, concrete or a naturally grown hemp fibre pressed wall. It is going to impact the environment and the cost in labour in a variating degree. What would a material “cost” and what could be a value or indication be that we could give a material to give it weight in a design and be a positive reminder of what you are getting yourself (us all) into.
[Project Goal]
1. In this project ill be looking at how to incorporate several elements from Blender into a educational platform, i chose this software because its open and readily available.
At the moment I’ve chosen a game to teach a couple of elements.
2. Teaching/learning navigation and control of a camera in a 3 environment, the game will have the advantage over 3D software in that developing a “remote contentiousness” is easy er and will react to an environment that will increase the immersive value to the designer in that its more accessible to get your fantasy or mind immersed into the world/virtual asset.
[Project Questions]
1. What is the further added value of using a game in this case, should games grow towards software or software towards games. Is an environment bringing a welcome variation, should 3D design be done in a pre-made world as well.
2. We use pre visualisation to show clients the end result using photogrammetry, why don’t we design so we can take certain elements into account early-er, we could also project a life day and night cycles to see how and when the sun hits the house.
3. Is manual labour in a game a good comparison of real life? How could we translate this into a degree of weight in software to create reluctance in people to design costly houses and motivate towards improvement of currently used materials or design solutions.
